==What's a Gotcha Box?
Gotcha Box
==
"It was originally a space shuttle used by G Red to escape. Now you can perform Force Edit with the spaace shuttle's controlls.
The Gotcha Box also functions as a Gotcha Borg manufacturing factory using the fragments of Planet Mega Borg left in the shuttle.
After you fight Gotcha Borgs and collect enough data, the Gotcha Box can use the data to create new Gotcha Borgs."
-Game Manual

Implications (Lore-Wise)

  • That a GF Commander is a requirement for any part of the borgs' opperation to work means that borgs somehow new such beings existed, leading to the questions of who the previously known commanders were on or before Mega Borg, and if they came to Earth intentionally because they knew of such GF Commanders' preasance here.
  • As G Red seemingly appeared during the opening cutsceen to story mode without it and doesn't mention it in his opening monologue, it is likely that the Gotcha Box may be able to grow and shrink like a Gotcha Borg so that it can be carried like borgs do their weapons. This also probably means that the Gotcha Box is made out of the same material as the borgs it creates, and so requires a GF Comander's preasense to function in certian ways (such as possibly a borg factory).
  • Because it is written that Gotcha Borgs are manufactured out of fragments of Mega Borg from the Gotcha Box, it's safe to reason that there is a limited ammount of borgs the Gotcha Box can create before it runs out of material.
  • Because the Gotcha Box can learn a borg's basic (Level 1) data of defeated enemy borgs without being apparently present, it is likely that it uses the borgs it creates as it's eyes and other data collecting sensors to do so.
  • The Gotcha Box updates borgs' data after a winning battle to reflect their experiances during the battle. This is apparent because even borgs who where destroyed in battle gain experiance points if you win. This also means that borgs most likely do not remember lost battles (though this could be just a product of non-cannon-ness).
  • The 20th Force Glitch fits into the lore without issue, seeing as it is comepleatly feasible that data may be rearranged to produce new and or enhanced borgs.

Trivia

  • The Gotcha Box is only talked about in game by G Red once and only mentioned during the tutorial.
  • In Story Mode, the Gotcha Box (asside from in Force Edit) is only seen in the intro cutscene.
  • In VS. Mode, multiple different color Gotcha Boxes may be seen as players insert their memory cards.
